Important information about Coronavirus (COVID-19)

English transcript: “Hello, this is a message from InterpreterNOW & NHS111. We felt it was crucial to share information regarding the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We’re aware there may be some uncertainty within the deaf BSL community so we thought we’d share the following.

If you have a cough, difficulty breathing, fever, have been abroad to a country affected by coronavirus in the last 14 days and feel unsure if you have been infected, then DON’T go to your doctor or the hospital, call NHS 111 BSL from where you are instead and follow their advice. This is the safest way.

There are two options to connect to NHS111, the InterpreterNOW app (registration required) or via a PC/Laptop using this link – https://interpreternow.co.uk/nhs111 . Using these methods will connect you to an online sign language interpreter who will relay your call.

Countries affected by coronavirus are:
Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Northern Italy, Japan. Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand or Vietnam”

Please note, if you live in Scotland, use contactSCOTLAND-BSL to call NHS24.
